Stated Session Highlights for 2025
At its stated meeting on June 22, the Session took the following actions:
- Received a report about the May 20 meeting of presbytery
- Elected Melissa Druff and Brandon Cline-Taskey as commissioners to the August meeting of presbytery
- Approved recommendations from Outreach to distribute $1,000 to Building Bridges in memory of David Stahl, $1,000 to New Bridges Immigration Center, and an additional $3,000 for preschool scholarships from their budgeted funds
- Approved distributions from the Building Fund for tree removal and painting
- Approved investment of some General Fund monies in interest-bearing accounts
- Revised the COVID vaccine policy for preschool teachers from required to recommended
At its stated meeting on May 18, the Session took the following actions:
- Approved inviting Edward Scott to preach and celebrate the Lord’s Supper on July 6 at the 10:00 service and Crystal Raphael to preach on August 17 at both services
- Approved presenting the State of the Church at 9:30 AM on June 8
- Moved the June Session meeting to June 22
At its stated meeting on April 13, the Session took the following actions:
- Removed from the rolls Joe Mills who has joined St. Francis Catholic Church and Mike Gabel who has joined Williamsburg United Methodist Church in Williamsburg, VA
- Elected Jane Wimmer and Dori Walk as commissioners to the May meeting of presbytery
- Approved a request for Covenant to host the November meeting of presbytery
- Approved the purchase of a basket cart for use by Outreach
- Approved Sunday worship times for July and August to be 8:30 and 10:00 as in past years
At its stated meeting on March 16, the Session took the following actions:
- Received a report on the February meeting of presbytery
- Approved engaging Worship Times for development of the church website
At its stated meeting on February 16 in the midst of a power outage, the Session took the following actions:
- Approved the 2024 PCUSA statistical report
- Approved a letter of transfer for Gretchen and Mel Allmond to King’s Grant Presbyterian Church in Virginia Beach
- Approved receipt of a gift for the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank
- Approved transfer of funds from the Child Stabilization Grant to make up the 2024 preschool operating deficit
- Amended the Youth Protection Policy to include electronic communications and social media
- Approved a gift to Rise for Hunger
- Approved a request for baptism
- Approved a new hire for the preschool
- Approved distribution of the 2024 surplus totaling $66,000
- Moved the April Session meeting from Easter evening (April 20) to April 13
- Adopted guidelines for addressing questions around immigration status
- Approved a facilities request for Rotary Youth Exchange
